Obituary

Barry Reno Sims born on September 14, 1959, in Austell, Georgia, passed away on February 18, 2026. He was a beloved member of the Austell community and will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, friends, and the sports teams he so passionately supported.

Barry had a rich and fulfilling life. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond mere fandom; he took on the role of coach for both boys and girls, sharing his knowledge and passion for baseball and football with young athletes. His commitment to coaching girls’ softball is particularly noted, as he influenced the lives of many youths through his mentorship and encouragement.

Barry is survived by his son, Barry Marquis Sims, His mother, Cora Sims Bostic, and his sisters, Madelyn Sims Williams & Brelinda Sims Campbell. His Fiancée, Helen Holmes. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Major Sims, whose legacy he carried with pride throughout his life.

The celebration of Barry's life will begin with a visitation on February 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, located at 4405 Marietta St, Powder Springs, GA 30127. This will be followed by a funeral service held at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church on February 28, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM and concluding at 4:00 PM, at 4192 Brownsville Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127.

Barry Reno Sims leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of sporting spirit, community involvement, and, above all, a deep love for his family that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
