Fannie Ethel Maxwell (January 14, 1931 – February 19, 2026) was born in Franklin, Georgia, to the late Jacob Carl McGhee and Emma Lou Minniefield McGhee. She was preceded in death by her four younger brothers: Jacob (Jake) Carl McGhee, Jr., Lamon McGhee, Robert Louis McGhee, and Lonzell McGhee.
Fannie attended Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She married the late Eddie Mason in Atlanta, Georgia, and from this union one child was born, Charlotte Ann Gibson. After their divorce, Fannie married Alvin Maxwell, with whom she shared five years of marriage until his passing.
Fannie Ethel Maxwell was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Church in Franklin, Georgia. Her love for God guided her daily life and was evident in the wisdom, compassion, and care she extended to those around her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Charlotte Ann Gibson; her grandchildren, Dionne Harris-Houston, Andrew B. Gibson, and Anthony E. Gibson; her great-grandchildren, Jaylon C. & Immari D. Harris, Andrew B. Gibson, Jr., Kendrick J. & Marysa R. Houston, Maurice A. Gibson, Amari N. Gibson, Amir D. Gibson, and Aria Z. Gibson; her great-great-grandchildren, Indya C. Houston and Jaylon C. Harris II; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
At the time of her passing, Fannie Maxwell was the matriarch of five living generations—a remarkable legacy that reflects a life richly lived and deeply rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family. Her family is committed to honoring her legacy of love.

A visitation will take place on March 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, located at 4405 Marietta St, Powder Springs, GA, 30127. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held on March 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the same location. Fannie will be laid to rest at Sweetwater Memorial Park in Hiram, GA, with the burial service commencing at 2:00 PM.
