James Andrew Davis, Jr., born on September 23, 1947, in Artesia, New Mexico, peacefully passed away on May 4, 2024. He was the beloved son of Andrew (Jack) Davis and Sarah (Edwards) Davis.
James embarked on a life filled with service, dedication, and love. After attending Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, and Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta, Georgia, he pursued his passion for HVAC, obtaining certification from Decker College.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army's 45th Finance Sector during the Vietnam War in Kaiserslautern, Germany, receiving accolades such as the National Defense Service Medal and a Certificate of Honor for his exemplary service.
James's professional journey led him through various roles, including positions at Atlanta Life Insurance Company, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, United States Postal Service, Federal Reserve Bank, and Controlled Climate Heating and Air. His work ethic and expertise left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
In 1973, James married Ollye Golden in Mobile, Alabama, and together they built a life centered around love, family, faith, and community in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area. He was a devoted husband and father, survived by his daughters Alyssia Laurette Wright, Andretta Marie Davis, and Valerie Denise Moore, along with his sister Veotha Smith. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Dion Ross, and sisters Ruby Hobdy and Velma J. Lethridge.
His kindness, generosity, love for music, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will be forever remembered.
The Public Visitation will be held the day before the service on Monday May 13, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30PM, at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, 4405 Marietta Street, Powder Springs GA, 30217.
The Funeral Service will be held the day after the visitation on Tuesday May 14, 2024, at Camp Creek Church of Christ 10:00 AM, 2400 Merk Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30331
