Lila Jean Walker was born November 29, 1930, in Memphis Tennessee to Spencer Willie Sims and May Helen Sims. Lila began her schooling in Memphis Tennessee but paused her education to help support her mother and sisters. In 1948 Lila married Clarence Willie Walker who she had 3 children with before separating in 1957 they later divorced in 1990. In 1961 Lila made the decision to move to Boston Massachusetts she was pregnant and had 5 children at the time, she went on to have two more children while living in Boston. In 1968 Lila began working as a teacher's aide for 7 years throughout Boston’s school district. In 1974 Lila went back to school and received her G.E.D at the University of Massachusetts. In 1976 Lila moved to Oakland California and worked 2 years as a bookkeeper for V. & W. Accounting services. During that time Lila began volunteering for the VWF Post 2727 and joined the International Masons and Eastern Star organization in Oakland California. Lila was a part of Rebekah chapter #066 and sat as worthy matron for many years. In 1979 Lila graduated from Merritt College as a nursing assistant / home health aide. In 1995 after working 15 years in the medical field Lila retired from working at Oaktree Convalescent Hospital as a nursing assistant in Oakland CA. After retiring Lila spend the rest of her years traveling and making memories with her family.

Lila Jean Walker is preceded in death by her parents: Spencer Sims and May Henderson, siblings: Annelle Hill, Ervene Woodberry, Alma Harris, Helen Nelson.

Children: Carl Sims and Rita Walker and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lila is survived by her children: David Walker, Ralph Walker, Debra Walker, Keith Walker, Tony Walker, Brian Walker. Grandchildren: Cherise Walker, Deja Williams, Taneisha McAllister, Shawntay Walker, Keonna Walker, Jamaal Walker, Romney Walker, Jamison Walker, Keith Walker Jr. Tony Walker II, Tony Walker III, Niambi Walker, Brea Walker, Ronisha McZeal, Domico Mangum, Andre Strother, Briest Walker. Great grandchildren: Brioni Walker, Cherelle Pratt, Benz Mangum, Vaida Mangum, Kamarri Robinson, Violet Strother, Alani Williams, Cameron McAllister, Brandon McAllister, Orielle Walker, Tony Walker, Mia Walker, Kohanah Walker, Amari Leopold, DaNaiya Leopold. Great great grandchildren Sinea Smith and Noelly Walker. Lila is also survived by her sisters Gloria Thompson and Pamela Thompson.
