Obituary

Ozell Allen was born on October 30, 1935, in Opelika, Alabama, to the late Lottie Mae and Steele Madden. She was the youngest of seven children, all preceded her in death: Jean Bandy, Charles Madden, Phillip Madden, Odessa Dardy, James Madden, and Verna Smith.

The family relocated to Detroit, where Ozell attended Northwestern High School. She got married and had two children. Sadly, her son, Kenneth Fair, passed away before her. Ozell later remarried Joseph Allen, who also preceded her in death. Together, they had one child.

Ozell retired from Fred Sanders Company after working for over 30+ years in several Detroit area stores. She relocated to Georgia after retiring to be with her daughter. She also worked at Publix Supermarket for several years in Georgia.

Ozell was a dedicated member of Third Baptist Church in Detroit, where she served on the Usher Board and the Pastor's Anniversary Committee. She joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Church after relocating to Georgia. Additionally, she was an active member of the Mother's Board Ministry, where she once held the position of President.

Ozell loved crossword puzzles, cooking, and entertaining friends and family, and traveling. She had a remarkable ability to create delicious meals with just a few ingredients and minimal time. Anyone lucky enough to enjoy one of her dishes would always remember how tasty it was. Ozell was known for her generous spirit, sharp wit, and compassionate heart. Her humor was infectious, and her presence brought warmth and light to every room she entered.

Ozell's health declined, leading her to become a resident at East Cobb Center for Healing and Nursing. While there, she participated in activities like bingo and praise and worship. She also formed a close bond with her roommate, Ms. Arbedella Reese.

Ozell is survived by two daughters, Venita Rosemond (Mario) and Deborah Allen (Detroit, MI). She leaves behind five grandchildren: Damon Fair, Diamond Rosemond, Alexis Rosemond, Steven Proctor, and Stephanie Bell. Additionally, she is remembered by six great-grandchildren, cherished nieces, Lenita Madden and Wanda Miller, and loving goddaughters, Lauretta Butler, Annette Clark and Lisa Norman. Her beloved and devoted godson, Dwayne Green, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, also honor her memory.
