In Loving Memory of Shirley Elaine Grant

Shirley Elaine Coleman, affectionately remembered by her family and loved ones, was born on June 23, 1951, in Marietta, Georgia, to Edward Paul Coleman and Lillie Pearl Coleman. She was the youngest of five children and was raised in a loving family surrounded by siblings and relatives who remained an important part of her life.

Shirley was the beloved sister of Loraine Black, Betty Williams, Gene Fooster, and Harold James Fooster. As the youngest, she held a special place in the hearts of her family and was cherished for the relationships she built throughout her life.

Shirley was a loving mother to her two sons, Darrell Barnett and James (Adrian) Barnett. Her role as a mother was one of the most meaningful parts of her life. She was also a proud grandmother to her three grandchildren, Samantha Barnett, Brie Barnett, and Bryce Barnett, who brought additional love, joy, and precious memories into her life.

Family was especially important to Shirley. Her relationships extended far beyond the traditional roles of aunt, sister, and mother. Although Shirley was an aunt to Doris, Anna Jean, Beverly, Theresa, Renae, and Barbara Jean, they grew up together so closely that their bond was more like that of sisters. The memories they shared while growing up became a lasting testament to the special connection Shirley had with them.

Shirley’s life was woven together by family, love, and memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She was not only a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt; she was a cherished member of a family whose presence helped shape the lives of those around her.

The love Shirley gave to her family will continue through her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and the many relatives and friends whose lives she touched. Though she may no longer be physically present, the memories of her life, her laughter, her family connections, and the love she shared will remain.

Shirley Elaine Coleman will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by her family.

Shirley's Memorial will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11 am at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, 4405 Marietta Street, Powder Springs, Georgia 30127.
