David Blassingame Sr. Obituary

David Blassingame Sr was born March 10, 1963 to Connie and Melvin Blassingame in Brooklyn, NY along with his siblings Edward Sr., Bobby Mitchell, Patricia, Sharon, Regina, Paula,  Anthony, Tracey, and James Sean.  They later moved to Hartwell, Ga where he spent the majority of his youth. In his early teens he found his first love Christ, in  a Back to the Bible tent revival under the late Bishop Raymond Moss Sr.

In 1982 he met his best friend, love of his life and soulmate Cynthia Wylie. On June 1, 1985 they were united in Holy Matrimony. Together they had four wonderful children Davita, DaVonn, David Jr., and Daniel.

He drove tractor trailers over the road for KLLM and later worked for Shepherd Construction until the company dissolved. He didn't know it at the time, but it was an answered prayer and it opened the door for him to  fulfill the calling on his life and enrich his walk with Christ.

For the past 13 years he was a loving member at Great Faith Pentecostal Church of God In Christ under Pastor Brent L Tiggs. There he diligently oversaw Monday Night Prayer, frequently attended 9 o'clock Morning Prayer, and indulged in his passion by occasionally teaching Wednesday Night Bible Study. During this time he fellowshipped and worshipped with many members of the body of Christ imparting love and wisdom whenever the Spirit of God led him.

Whenever he wasn't in the church he spent his time with his family and his grandchildren Daelyn, Janelle, Mya, Melanie, Jamell Jr., and Christian.

His hobbies were building model planes, artistry, composing music but more than anything he loved GOD and His word. He also enjoyed studying eschatology, and  fellowshipping with his close friends and  brethren over a meal.

Our beloved father, brother and friend was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father Connie and mother Melvin Blassingame, brothers Anthony Blassingame, Bobby Mitchell Blassingame, father in law Luther Bennett and mother in law Lillie Wylie.

He leaves his legacy and cherished memories to his wife Cynthia, children: Davita(Jamell Sr) Murray, DaVonn, David Jr, Daniel, siblings:Edward J Blassingame Sr, Patricia(Doug) Moon, Sharon Blassingame, Regina Blassingame,  Paula(Larry) Roebuck, Tracey Blassingame (McCord), James Sean Blassingame, grandchildren: Daelyn, Janelle, Mya, Melanie, Jamell Jr., Christian, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and family in Christ.
