Dorothy L. Haire

The beautiful Dorothy “Dot” Haire, was born in Smyrna, GA on July 28, 1943 and was raised in the community of Davenport Town. Dot joined Mount Zion Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. At an early age where she served on the usher board and sung in the HD Gospel choir.

Before moving to California, Dot earned her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 1966. In 1969, she moved to Alameda, CA and worked as a CNA at South Shore Convalescent Home for over 20 years. She was an active member of Union Baptist Church in Oakland, CA before relocating to Bainbridge, GA in 1993. While living in Bainbridge, GA she worked at Memorial Manor for over 10 years. She joined Union Baptist Church in Bainbridge GA and served on the Woman’s Auxiliary Committee and Usher board.

In 2018, The beautiful Mrs. Dot relocated from Bainbridge, GA to Powder Springs, GA. She lived out her remaining years in Dallas GA surrounded by family and friends at Creek Side Pines Retirement Community. She is remembered for her beautiful smile that would light up a room, contagious laugh and unfiltered out-spoken personality. She enjoyed spending time with all who loved her, exercising, watching her favorite comedies and westerns.

Dot was preceded in death by Louise Arnold (mother), Eddie Lee Wiley (stepfather), Henry King (biological father), Waymon Haire (Husband) and her three brothers; Hubert Wiley, Charlie Lee Wiley and Ralph Wiley.

Dot is survived by her three children: Sharon Billinger, William Clark Billinger-Stephens (Karen), Davina Roane (Arthur), Sisters: Beverly North-Fulton, Mary Turner (Sherman, Sr.) and Nancy Moore (Jim), William Stephens (former husband and father of her kids), Grandchildren: DeShawn Billinger (Nitasha), LaTeisha Shark, LaNette Shark, Shanise Hall (Quitney), Articia Roane, David Roane, Aaliyah Roane, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. The family of Dorothy Haire wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone that sent a kind word or shared a story.

The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, beginning at 2:00 PM at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1789 Hawthorne Ave., Smyrna, GA 30080.
