Ms. Edna Elizabeth Turner Jones lovingly referred to as Mama Edna was born in Hiram Ga. on January 8, 1929. She was the third of six children born to the late Coy and Rosa Lee Turner. She was educated at and graduated from the Hiram-Paulding school system. Ms. Turner Jones accepted Christ and was filled with the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the age of 12. During her youth and adulthood, she was a faithful member of Greater Smith Temple Pure Holiness Church. (Hiram, GA). In the year of 1946 Edna married Durell Jones. The couple decided to make their home in Hiram Ga. To this union, five children were born. Over the next several years Edna dedicated herself to serving the Lord, being a supportive wife, caring for and teaching her children. Later on as her children grew and entered college, Edna took on a full time position as a professional seamstress at the Malbon Company (Hiram, Ga), in order to help support her children’s college education aspirations. Upon retiring from the Malbon Company Ms. Turner Jones focused her energy on caring for her husband, Durell, and nurturing her first three grandchildren Carlbie, Karsha, and Shantara.
A few years later, August 1981, Durell passed away in a tragic car repair related accident. Still Edna stood strong as a source of strength and hope for
her children and grandchildren. As the years passed she devoted her time to caring for her additional grandchildren: Shaudre, Jared, Lorne, Lekendreon, Keteria, Joey and later her great-grandchildren Kendi, and Dameaki. Also in her free time Mama Edna continued to exercise her creativity through gardening, baking, and sewing. She remained active in and dedicated to
church ministry as church mother of Cross of Calvary Worship Center(PHC)and in her later years as an active supporter of Divine Grace Pure Holiness
Church.
Even as her health gradually failed her over the past 10 years, Mama Edna stayed faithful to Christ, dedicated to her family, intellectually strong and positively motivated. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in the special family events such as birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and the annual Turner Family Reunions. Also she treasured the precious spent moments with
her “great-grands”: Karlei, Kamden, Joey II, Brenzley, Journey, Xaiden, Keiland
