Joe Bivins Obituary

Joe  L. Bivins was born April 27, 1939 in Port Lavaca, Texas to the late Virgie Mae (Legans) and Walter Bivins. 
 
Joe attended school and received formal education in Edna, TX. Joe accepted Christ at a young age as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mount Oliver Baptist Church (Edna, Texas) where he later served as an Associate Minister. Joe was a quiet man who loved the Lord. 
 
Prior to moving to Birmingham in a previous marriage he became a father to Rogenia Bivins (San Antonio, TX), to grandchildren Robert Ellis Jr. and Palus Clack and 3 great grandchildren Nyles,Nyla and Robert(Jr.) Ellis.      In 1988 he married the love of his life, Denise Evans and to their union one child was born, Virnise Hubbard Bivins (Birmingham, AL). Joe fathered Danny and Dawnica Evans, grandchildren Adarius and Aniyah Evans, great grandchildren Akauri and Adarius(Jr) Evans for over 3 decades. 
 
Joe was an industrious man who often worked 3 jobs at one time. His last place of employment was Pratt City Library in Birmingham, AL. He was a skilled Floor Technician. He was often given many accolade honors or awards for a job well done. Although quiet he left a memorable impression to all that he met in his long life. 
 
Joe was preceded in death by his  parents, Virgie Mae (Legans) and Walter Bivins (stepfather) R.D. Legans (Hallettsville,TX), sister; Katherine Goven and Myrtle Young of (Lubbock,TX). Hattie Fields and Lynda Edwards of Houston, TX (Mother-In-Law) Virginia Evans Smith.(brother-in-laws) Danny Evans, Dwight Hill, Dennis Evans, and Daniel Evans    Joe leaves  treasured  memories to his wife, Denise Bivins. sisters: Jessie Mae Jones; Patsy(Joe) Johnson; Virginia(Ronald) Legans Cooper and brothers R.D. Legans Jr; 3 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

 

The family will welcome guests for the viewing/ visitation on Saturday, May 30, 2020 for 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, 4405 Marietta St. Powder Springs, GA 30127.

The funeral services will follow immediately afterwards on Saturday, May 30, 2020 for 1:00 PM at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, 4405 Marietta St., Powder Springs, GA 30127.

The interment will be held at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens on Saturday, May 30, 2020 after the service.
