Kamani Kirkland Obituary

Kamani LaDasia Kirkland was born on December 6, 2001 to Meisa Bates and Kirk Kirkland in Austell, Georgia and departed this life on May 27, 2020 in the very same hospital she was born in Wellstar Cobb. Her parents, family and friends mourn the devastating and senseless loss of their beloved daughter by a gun in a 17 year old child’s hand. Kamani was smart and ambitious, and had a plan for her life. She recently graduated South Cobb High School with honors and was set to begin nursing school in the fall at Chamberlain University in Sandy Springs. Kamani worked as a call center representative for a pool company for two years. Kamani was vibrant, outgoing, the biggest heart you could imagine. She was never without a big smile. She was incredibly loyal and full of life, kindhearted and generous. One of her biggest role models was her older cousin Ryan Hawkins, this relationship was like no other, they were more like sisters. Growing up anything Ryan did she did it was the cutest thing. Kamani was very frugal with her money. Not so much her parents money though. Often she would have a pocket full of money but ask her step Dad Cecil and her Mom to buy things over her personal spending limit. They often sat her down and talked about the importance of saving and her response was “I know, I know” they thought she was not listening. But much to their surprise when they took her to open her own account they were shocked as they watched her pull out serval hundred dollar bills, way over $500. Both Cecil and Meisa at the same time said “she was listening”. Kamani was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents: Eunice and Leo Bates; She leaves to mourn, her parents: Meisa Bates and Kirk Kirkland, her step father Cecil Clayton; Grandparents: Gwendolyn Kirkland and Keith Kirland Sr; Siblings: brother Aaron Bates; half siblings: Kenard, Joshua, Kanecia Snipes/Larando, K’amiel, Kelsey, Kilivah, Kyla; Aunts: Natalie and Iris (god mother) Hawkins, Debra Kirkland, Kimberly Lewis, Keanab Lewis; Uncles: Micheal Bates/Marissa, Keith Kirkland Jr.; A host of Great Aunts and Great Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
