Marjorie Hunter was born April 2, 1940 to the late Albert and Marie Hunter in Powder Springs, Georgia. Marjorie departed this life on June 28, 2020.
Marjorie accepted the Lord as her savior at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Powder Springs in 1953. Marjorie was united in holy matrimony to John T. Stephens. Marjorie was the mother of six children.
Marjorie attended Washington Street Elementary and Lemon Street High School.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Marjorie served faithfully until the Lord called her home. Marjorie enjoyed directing the youth choir. She also played the piano for Pleasant Grave Baptist Church, Sweet Home Baptist Church, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Zion Hill Baptist Church, Pine Street Baptist Church, Sardis Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, and Saint Paul AME.
God has richly blessed her though the years to have a fruitful life through generations of love, laughter, wisdom, and prayers with her family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her sibling, Estella Ralston, and four children: Barry Stephens, Anthony Stephens, Reginald Stephens, and Yurlonda McSpadden.
Marjorie leaves to cherish her memories: husband, John T. Stephens; two children, Jay Stephens and Victor Stephens; one sister, Dorothy Arnold; three brothers, WA Hunter, Wallace Hunter, and Lamar Johnson; brother-in-law, Bobby Stephens; two sister-in-law’s, Betty Stephens and Carlene Nichols. 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
The family will welcome guest for a visitation/ viewing on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Greener Pastures Funeral Home, 4405 Marietta St. Powder Springs, GA 30127.
The OUTSIDE funeral service will be held the the next day on Saturday, July 11, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 4192 Brownsville Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
