Rickie Dion Peters affectionately known as “Dion” was born April 19th, 1975 in Los Angeles, California to young parents Richard Douglas Peters and Melonee Yvette Joiner. This little baby quickly became the “apple” of everyone in his family’s eyes.
Dion’s extensive education began at Wanda Mike’s Early Education Preschool, First Church Christian School, Dunn Elementary, Kolb Middle School, Jurupa Valley High, graduating from Eisenhower High School in Rialto, California, June 1993.
He went on to further his education studying Social Science and African American studies receiving two Bachelor Degrees from San Diego State University in 1998.
His dedication to music earned him acceptance into the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California which led to an internship at the famous Larrabee Studios where several great artists recorded their masterpieces. His hard work at Larrabee from “coffee boy” to engineer earned him two Grammy Award nominations.
Dion was a man of many loves, talents and adventures. From his simple road trips to his travels abroad. His love for cooking and healthy eating were unmatched. He could certainly cook up a great meal, seasoned to perfection (even if it took him all day). His passion for Sports, all things California, Lakers, Dodgers and his beloved Raiders made him the ultimate fan. He also nurtured every stray animal that crossed his path.
Although he never became a Father, he loved children and children loved him especially his nephews and young cousins.
Dion will always be remembered as “living life on his own terms” but the one thing is he loved us all and we loved him back.
He leaves to cherish, his loving mother Melonee (Bobby) and his father Richard who preceded him in death. His sisters Tierra Chanel (Mario), Tiana Cheri’ of Atlanta, Ga and Revay of San Bernardino, Ca. His Nephews Quentin and Zion (Tierra). His niece, K’Leyah, nephews Chase and Cordet (Revay). His Grandmother Alice Jean (Melonee), Grandfather Douglas Peters (Shirley) and Grandmother Verna Peters who preceded him in death. You know who you are and how much you meant to him.
