Velma Barber Jr. Obituary

Velma (Bob, Lil Bro) Barber Jr, passed at the age of 71 years old. He was born April 8,1949 to Velma Barber Sr and Hanna Johnson Barber.
He grew up in very humble beginnings in Monticello, GA. He didn’t attend school for long because he was more useful working the land with his father.
He met, fell in love and married Mavis White September 14, 1973. She already had 3 kids of her own and 9 months later completed their family with their last bundle of joy on June 30,1974.
Velma (Bob) as we called him was a gentle soul and over the years made a great impact on the people he came in contact with.  He is known through the neighborhood as the walking man. He loved to walk the neighborhood and although you may not have known his name, you could set your watch by his daily routine.  Walking to all the stores in the area and watching Cowboy movies is what everyone knew him for. He knew every cowboy movie by heart but GunSmoke was his absolute favorite show.
He was a man of few words so he always made them count. Although he currently didn’t belong to a church home he woke up every morning thanking JESUS for another day.  He did have a relationship with GOD and I know that the LORD has always watched out for him.
He made his final ascent January 1, 2021 as he lost his fight with Covid 19. He had the most peaceful sleep the night before listening to Soaking/Healing music. Sometime after 1:00 PM he went home to be with the Lord in his sleep. PEACEFULLY.

He is survived by the love of his life for the past 47 years Mavis White Barber -Wife. His children Margaret Cocoa Barber - Daughter, Mary Charlene Baker - Daughter, Julia Jade Baker -Daughter and Arthur Tejah Baker - Son who is waiting to receive him in Heaven. Father and Mother who made their transition many years ago but have not been forgotten. Velma Barber Sr and Hanna Johnson Barber.
